Alice Scannell, LICSW

Clinician

Alice Dee Scannell, LICSW, began working in social services in 1996 and earned her master's degree in social work from the University of Vermont in 2006. Over the past 30 years, she has served in Oregon, Massachusetts, and Vermont agencies, primarily supporting populations connected to community mental health, juvenile justice, and public school systems. Currently, Alice provides clinical supervision for school-based clinicians, teaches social work through the UVM graduate program, and specializes in counseling for youth and families through Vermont Center for Resiliency. Alice’s therapeutic approach emphasizes discovering and building on strengths, exploring unique outcomes, and developing the capacity to find insight and balance amid challenging circumstances. Clients can expect a dynamic centered on trust, built through a commitment to transparency, and reflective practices that invite consideration of diverse narratives. Her therapeutic style is collaborative, grounded in realism, and capable of balancing intensity with levity and humor. Through her social work education and years of supporting youth and families, Alice has developed a deep understanding of the intricate ways family experiences, social relationships, resource access, and broader societal conditions shape individual well-being. The hope is that each client, as an individual or family, can comfortably explore their priorities and build confidence in understanding barriers, strategies, and options as they move toward their wellness goals.
